(Roanoke, VA) December 9, 2011 – The Acts 2 Ministry Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Philip Clements as the ministry’s new Executive Director, effective December 9, 2011.
The Executive Director for The Acts 2 Ministry is responsible for achieving the vision of the ministry, setting ministry goals and objectives, providing leadership, and raising the funds needed to implement the vision.
Philip grew up in the Roanoke area and sees this as an opportunity to give back to a city that gave so much to him. As a young child, he was a victim of poverty and neglect and the great people of Roanoke rallied around his family to give them hope.
Philip comes to the Acts 2 Ministry with a broad base of experience. He served in the U.S. Army in both the 82nd Airborne Division and 7th Special Forces Group. Following his service in the military he worked for and supported government agencies in Washington, DC and Charleston, SC. During the last five plus years Philip has served in numerous ministry roles at churches and organizations such as Seacoast Church, Newspring Church, and Young Life.
Philip holds two associate’s degrees, a bachelor’s degree, and is currently working on his master’s degree in Theology from Liberty University. He is also near completion of a Certificate in Nonprofit Management through Duke University’s Nonprofit Management Program.
THE ACTS 2 MINISTRY
Acts 2 is an urban ministry dedicated to the cause of Christ and reaching into the homes and hearts of the inner city of Roanoke, VA. Acts 2’s work lies in creating a community of believers that transcends all racial and socio-economic barriers by providing hope for the lost and hurting through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Acts 2 Ministry prayer is that God will heal the deep wounds that lead to cycles of poverty, drugs, neglect, and hate which are so prevalent in the inner city.
